A Word From Mrs. Rasmussen- Principal and Mrs.Putnam- Assistant Principal

We have a lot of fun planned for the last month of school and excitedly many of these events provide opportunities for families to be involved! May and June will be filled with field trips, concerts, field days, family events, the elementary art show, and the Scholastic Book Fair!

Be sure to mark your calendars:

5/5-5/9: Staff Appreciation Week

5/5 and 5/8: Grade 3 Math MCAS

5/9: Special Olympics at Gardner HS

5/13 and 5/15: Grade 4 Math MCAS

5/12-5/16: Book Fair (during Digital Literacy block)

5/15: Art Show & Book Fair 5:00-7:00

5/23: Memorial Day Program at 10:00

5/26: No School, Memorial Day

5/28-5/30: Next Year Kindergarten Screening- No school for current Kindergarten classes!

6/12: Field Day Grades 2, 3 and 4

6/12: Kindergarten Celebration at MS/HS

6/13: Field Day Grades K and 1

Also, during these last few weeks we will begin to gather end of the year data on our students and celebrate the growth they have made this past school year. As you begin to think of summer please remember to get creative when it comes to continuing learning at home. For example, involving your children in cooking/meal prep provides opportunities for them to practice measurement and essential math skills. Signing up at the local library and participating in their local summer reading programs is a great way to tie reading with an incentive attached. Going for walks outside and talking about what you observe is a great way to build background knowledge in science!

TES Health Office News- May 2025

  • Medication Protocol

    • Please note that the initial dose of any new medications (especially ADHD meds) should be given at home on a non-school day, where the parents can monitor them for any side effects, instead of them starting medication and coming to school.

  • Preschool, Kindergarten & Fourth-grade families

    • All kindergarten & 4th graders are required by Massachusetts State Law to have documentation of a recent physical exam. Please make sure to send in a copy of your PK/K/4th-grade student’s physical exam, as they have them throughout the school year.

    • Reminder: The deadline for fourth-grade physicals is MAY 1st. Please send your child’s physical by the deadline so they can participate in the spring field trip.

  • Students with Screening Referrals (Vision and/or Hearing)

    • Please also send back the screening referral when they have been seen by a specialist.  If you need another copy of the referral, I can provide you with one, or we would be happy to fax a copy directly to the specialist for you.

  • TICKS- As the weather warms and we spend more time outdoors, ticks will be out again, too. Please check yourself and your children for ticks after playing outside in grassy, brushy, or wooded areas. Remove any attached ticks as soon as possible. For more information on ticks and tic prevention, go to:  www.mass.gov/service-details/tick-borne-disease-information-for-the-public

  • Sunblock and bug spray:

    • As the weather gets warmer, please apply sunblock and bug spray to your child(ren) prior to sending them to school.  School staff are not able to apply these products at school.

  • Month of May Health Awareness Topics

    • National Asthma and Allergy Awareness
