4. Title I School Wide: Ensuring that all students receive the appropriate level of support here at TES continues to be a priority. We have a half hour block in our daily schedule at every grade level called WIN. WIN stands for “What I Need”. This block is designed to provide targeted support for students based on their individual skill level. During this half hour period of time students are engaged in activities that will assist them in skill building. It is during this time that our intervention team will also be working with students to provide support if necessary. An important part of WIN block is that no new instruction is being taught, therefore students who leave to work with interventionists will not miss any new material. Students who remain in the classroom will work with their teacher or independently on materials that will provide reteach or enrichment, whatever it is that each student needs. The groups that our interventionists work with are very fluid, this means that students usually only stay in these groups for a short period of time and then return to WIN block in their classroom. The purpose of these groups are to practice previous concepts taught, and to close gaps in foundational skills by providing targeted instruction. We wanted to share this information with you in the event that your child shares that they were a part of a group outside the classroom during the day. More child specific information will be sent home towards the end of October once all beginning of the year testing is completed.
