A Word From Mrs. Rasmussen- Principal and Mrs. Putnam- Assistant Principal

We are thrilled to welcome everyone back to another exciting school year at Templeton Elementary School. We hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer break and are ready to embark on a new journey of learning, growth, and discovery. Our dedicated staff has been hard at work preparing for an engaging and productive year, filled with enriching activities, innovative lessons, and opportunities for every student to shine. Here's to a fantastic year ahead!

Important Reminders:

Student Arrival:

Students will be let off the buses and parent drop off will begin at 8:20. (PreK sessions are 8:30-11:00 am and 12:00-2:30 pm).

Student Dismissal:

Students begin transitioning to their dismissal areas at 2:50. Once students are in their designated areas our dismissal process begins.

Detailed traffic plans were sent home via mail and email over the summer. Please be sure you review these expectations. All family members picking up students in the car line are required to have a placard displayed every day on their dashboard. This will ensure the timely dismissal of students as our new Assistant Principal will be in that role.

Attendance:

  • In the event of student absence from school, or tardiness, we ask for your cooperation by calling and informing the school before 9:00 a.m. If calling prior to 8:00 a.m., please leave a voicemail message. Our school secretaries will receive the message and record the appropriate information.Phone calls regarding absences will be sent out at 10:00 am. Please ignore that call if you have already checked in with us. The automated system will call you regardless if you have already let us know.

  • If you prefer to email us about the absence it is very important to email not only the classroom teacher but the office secretaries as well. ptaintor@nrsd.org and dhastings@nrsd.org

Labeling Student Items

It is extremely helpful to get lost items returned back to students if their names are located somewhere on that item. Please be sure to include names on lunchboxes, water bottles, and jackets- in years past our lost and found grows rapidly as the year progresses.

Parent Pick- Up Placards

Each family received 2 Parent Pick Up Placards . We ask that you write your child(ren)’s name(s) on these tags. These placards are used to keep our dismissal process both safe and efficient.

We sent 2 placards to ALL families, even those planning to send your child(ren) on the bus. We want all families to have placards in the event that you need to utilize our dismissal system.

Placards should be placed in the front windshield of your car every day so that a staff member can identify who you are picking up.

If you are in need of additional placards please contact our front office staff:

dhastings@nrsd.org

ptaintor@nrsd.org

To all new families (and returning families) please know that we are very thoughtful when it comes to our arrival and dismissal systems. We make sure to have our staff stationed so that they can support students and help them get where they need to be.

September 2024

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!

Your Templeton Elementary School  team of nurses are  looking forward to the year ahead and working with your children and families.  You may reach us by phone and/or email on school days from the hours of 8:20-3:15.  Our phone number is 978-939-1210; emails are listed below.

Important things to remember:

  • Massachusetts State Law requires all 4th graders to have documentation of a recent physical exam. Please make sure to send in a copy of your 4th-grade student’s physical exam as they have them throughout the school year. Physicals are due by May 1st and are required for to attend the spring field trip season. If they have an upcoming appointment, please let us know.

  • This is a peanut/tree nut aware building.  We do have students with life threatening allergies here at school. There will be nut free tables in the cafeteria for students with allergies to use. Peanut products will only be allowed in the cafeteria. Classrooms are nut free so please provide your students with a peanut/nut free snack for the classrooms.  Please see Templeton Elementary School Food Guidelines listed below.

  • Allergies: Please be sure to let me know if your student has any allergies, so that we can do our best to keep your child safe here at school.

  • Medications:  If your child has a prescription for a medication that should be available to them at school, such as a daily noontime medication,  inhaler and/or epipen, please let me know so we can work together to get the medication orders in place.

Templeton Elementary School Food Guidelines:

We have students in our school with severe food allergies that are potentially life-threatening.  In order to ensure the safety of all students and staff, we have established some guidelines for foods that are sent in from home for classroom snacks and celebrations.

  • ONLY NON-FOOD items, such as pencils, stickers, small trinkets will be allowed for birthday celebrations in the classrooms.  This will give  ALL students the opportunity to equally  participate in the celebration.  Please do not send any food items into school for birthday celebrations.

  • Only prepackaged foods with ingredient labels may be sent into school for classroom celebrations/events.  No homemade foods can be shared in school.

  • Absolutely NO peanut/nut products are allowed in the classroom areas.   Please read labels carefully before sending food into school. (this includes Nutella and similar products)

  • Individual classrooms may have additional food products that are not allowed for celebrations depending on the health issues of students in that class.

  • Students may eat foods containing peanut/nut products in the lunch room ONLY. There are peanut-aware tables in the lunchroom that students with peanut/nut allergies may eat at.

  • Please check with me or your child’s teacher several days before sending ANY food products into school for celebrations since there are students in many classes that have severe allergies to foods other than nut products.

  • Any snacks sent into school for celebrations/events that are not labeled or cleared for the classroom will not be shared with the class.

  • Students are not allowed to “share” any food/snacks in school, either in the classroom or at lunch.  If your child has food allergies it is important to talk to him/her about not sharing any foods in school!!

  • Students are not allowed to eat food on the bus.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in helping us provide our students with a healthy and safe environment.  As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us  at 978-939-1210.
