Principal’s Flyer #7: September 28, 2025
Dear Students & Families:
We hope you’ve enjoyed a temperate fall weekend and that your fall to-do list is getting shorter…not longer, but we know that may be wishful thinking this time of year. Top of our list today is to celebrate our athletics teams and the families and fans who support them. This was on display Friday night, with our families cooking out, our Cheer Team and Cheer Leaders from TES (you were awesome!) putting on a fantastic halftime show at TES Night in a nice Varsity Football win over Athol. THANK YOU to the many parents and families, community members, alumni, last second volunteers running the yardage/chains, and to our staff. We had a high turn out of alumni and a large number of staff joining our usual crowd, and this makes for an incredibly fun night in the neighborhood.
As a community member wrote to me: what “a quintessential Friday Night lights town football game” for our students and families. Thank you to the Athletics Department, Boosters, and Cheer Team and all involved for making this happen. Thank you especially to our students for your strong turnout and good sportsmanship at the game. It’s incredibly nice to connect with family and check in to see how things are going with you as your kids journey toward graduation. As parents were sharing: it goes fast, and we know it. Thank you for choosing NRHS as your school and community. We’re here with and for you, families.
Here’s a Clip of NRSD Warriors Being Awesome
Did you know, you can stream games virtually (and see recordings) on our athletics page?

We are very excited to share that on Saturday, October, 18, 2025, Gansett's Varsity Letterman's Club is proudly sponsoring NRHS's 6th Annual Warrior Fest. Festivities begin at 4:00 pm. We have a couple food trucks coming, live music, a football game, and a professional fireworks display.
Save the date for Homecoming Dance: Friday October 17th*
*Stay tuned for more information about the dance. Be advised that 8th grade holds a special 8th grade dance later in the fall
PSAT - All Juniors: October 24, 2025 |
All juniors will take the PSAT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). The PSAT is a practice version of the SAT. The SAT is a college admissions exam that some colleges require. This practice exam gives you an opportunity to experience the format and style of this college entrance exam without the pressure of official SAT scores being reported to colleges. In addition, taking the PSAT in 11th grade enters you into the National Merit Scholarship competition, which can lead to recognition and scholarship opportunities. NRHS offers the PSAT free of charge to students and families. All students: be on the lookout for signup information from Ms. Donnelly for non-Juniors if interested.
Why are we administering it?
We want to provide all juniors with the chance to:
Gain practice and familiarity with standardized testing before the SAT.
Receive feedback on academic strengths and areas for growth.
Potentially qualify for National Merit recognition and scholarships (juniors)
Juniors opting out (remember this is no risk-now cost endeavor for you): please be reminded to let Ms. Donnelly know by the end of day on Monday if you’d like to forgo the PSAT.

Important Reminders & Events At-A-Glance |
This Monday September 29th is the Mid-Point Progress Report for Term 1.
Students and parents are reminded most current grades will be in the portal by the end of the day on Monday.
This is a good snapshot of how you/your student is doing thus far to start the 25-26 school year.
eBike, Bicycle, and Scooter Safety on Campus. Thank you to our families and students for taking e-bikes, bicycle, and scooter safety on campus so seriously. We saw a dramatic downtick in close calls and safety issues last week.
Warriors: good job walking those bikes on campus
Bus Evacuation Safety. Due to the heavy rain last week, this safety drill has been moved to October.
Thanks in advance to all students for attention to this very brief but important training.
Rho Kappa Honors Society will meet September 30th @ 2:10 PM in Ms. Charrier’s Room (133).
Please see the society information and topics here.
Reminder: Keeping Kids Safe & Secure Online Presentation
We sent out signup information for the US Attorney’s Office presentation regarding online safety last week.
In case you missed it, additional information is linked, here.
Co-Op Golf. Did you know that NRHS has several students who are competitive golfers and vying for a playoff spot? Here’s Jackson Jalbert on the tee-box recently. Jackson, you look like you know what you are doing (and your sub 40 scorecard on 9 confirms it…). I call dibs on Jackson for the next best-ball scramble. Shout out to our entire co-op golf team!
Reminder: Charged Chromebooks to School Daily. A reminder to all students (especially grade 8!) that as a 1:1 school your teachers assume you will be bringing charged chromebooks to school on a daily basis. Charging and bringing your device to school in good working order is an intentional responsibility you will carry forward with you in life after NRHS.
Thanks for being on time to school, fully charged (enough sleep and breakfast) with a charged chromebook each day.
Parent/guardian volunteers! NRHS participates and is one of a few local schools that is accredited as part of NEASC - the New England Association of School and Colleges. As part of our ongoing accreditation cycle this year, we are looking for parent/guardian volunteers to provide a visiting team of educators for New England perspective on our school community. If interested, please reach out to cyoung@nrsd.org.
We would be seeking your input especially November 13-14th.
To see more on the accreditation process which NRHS participates in to foster continuous improvement please visit: https://www.neasc.org/resources-public-schools
Finally, please be reminded that this coming Wednesday is a half-day for students with the school day beginning at 7:30 AM as normal and dismissal at 10:55 AM. We’re looking forward to an outstanding week ahead, Warriors!
