Principal’s Flyer #36: May 11, 2025
Dear Students & Families:
Happy Mother’s Days to all of our Mothers, Grandmothers and Mother figures out there! Sending you positive energy and admiration for all you do today. We hope you enjoyed the Mother’s Day sun today. Kudos goes out today to our Montachusett Vocational Partnership program students and staff. In particular, Drew Hagie spoke at the Ribbon Cutting ceremony as the program opened its new facility. Drew did an outstanding job with his remarks, and our students have set the tone all year ushering in a first-of-kind-program that we hope will provide greater access for all students to vocational programming! Kudos to our students, and kudos to Ms. Donnelly and Mr. Supple for steering this program so professionally through its inaugural year.
Speaking of MVP students, please see this photo of our Seniors getting CPR training with the Templeton Fire this past week, and MVP student Thomas Hendly at the Massachusetts Firefighters Academy training location in Stow with Firefighter Dan Deane. Thomas was given not only a tour of the training facility, he was able to learn about and meet the different staff including the state HAZMAT team, State Police, and Fire Marshal's Office. The tour was set up to help Thomas and future students learn about the pathways to becoming a firefighter. Kudos to Thomas, and thank you to Firefighter Dean the wider Templeton Fire Department. And finally students, if you’re interested in firefighting and wider emergency response, consider this great opportunity for the Explorers Fire-EMS Program!
Today we are also taking a moment to celebrate over 50 students being inducted into one or more honors societies to include National Honors Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, Much Ado About English Honors Society, and Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society. Even with separate induction ceremonies for Mu Alpha Math Honors Society, Tri-M and Theater Guild Honors society held on different dates, we still enjoyed a tremendous turnout from families and enjoyed charming student-led ceremonies last Tuesday evening. Here are just a few photos (and program) to mark the occasion. Thank you to our community for supporting our Warrior-Scholars, and bravo to our students on earning induction to these prestigious groups as a result of academic excellence and dedication to their respective disciplines!
And as if the last couple weeks weren’t vibrant enough and the Seniors aren’t eager enough to get on with Senior Week, here are just a few photos capturing College-Decision day that we could squeeze in the middle of Advanced Placement preparation and MCAS Testing. We will feature more students individually with additional information as we move through graduation and June.
Last but not least… YES seniors, we have been cajoled into approval of the Senior Spirit week next week, including the famed Anything-But-A-Backpack Day. Seniors only, be the lookout for Senior Spirit Day details sent to you by Ms. Smith this morning.
Recognizing Advanced Placement & Project Lead the Way Students |
Today we’re celebrating the dedication of our Advanced Placement (AP) students who have been engaging in AP testing to earn passing scores and potential college credit credit. AP coursework is arguably the most rigorous coursework available to high school students. The demands of these courses are frequently beyond what any student would encounter in a standard introductory level course in college, and the courses are shown to situate students well for college success after high school. We commend our Advanced Placement: English Literature, English Language, Government & Politics, World History, European History, US History, Biology, Physics, and Calculus on their dedication to highly rigorous study. We wish you continued success on your ongoing testing!
Secondly and as we move firmly into graduation season, we would like to celebrate all of our PLTW applied learning students participating in the Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, and Computer Science pathways. The skills our students are developing in these pathways will situate them well to join STEM fields that are in high demand going forward into the future, and the program equips students to adapt to evolving demands of a competitive, globalized industry. Thanks to the hard work of our students, NRHS is yet again being acknowledged by the One8 Foundation and folks at PLTW as a Distinguished School. Bravo Warriors!

We are proud to announce the students who have been elected to Student Council leadership roles! Please see our elected officers, listed by class. Congratulations to all of our class officers and all students who ran for elected office. Next week we will announce School Advisory Council members as well as our School Committee Student Representative for the 25-26 School Year.

Putnam Gymnasium (464 Baldwinville Rd., Baldwinville, MA). This observance is coordinated by retired Music Director Mr. Stephen Babineau in cooperation with the Narragansett Administration and the Baldwinville American Legion Post since 2011. The program is essentially the same format as the one at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Winchendon. This year’s guest speaker will be Mr. James Brehio, a well-known figure in the Narragansett Community.
The public is invited to this event. The facility is handicapped accessible. Veterans are encouraged to wear insignia showing their branch of service. For more information, contact Principal Colby Young of Narragansett High School at 978-939-5388 or cyoung@nrsd.org.
