Principal’s Flyer #34: April 27, 2025
Dear Students & Families:
We hope you’ve had an enjoyable school vacation week and are feeling recharged for the home stretch of this school year! As we return to an extremely busy week, we’d like to congratulate two Warriors on accomplishments that occurred over the break. Congratulations to Brielle Haddocks on being named MBCA All-Senior Team for varsity basketball! And congratulations to Warrior Staff and Coach Haleigh Medlin, who completed the Boston Marathon on Patriots’ day, achieving her goal of a sub-five hour time and raising over $10,000 dollars to support Boston Children’s Hospital on behalf of her patient partner. Here’s Coach Medlin after the race with two crucial supporters! Congratulations Brielle! Congratulations Ms. Medlin!
Please be reminded that high school scholastics, extracurriculars, and athletics all pick up pace tremendously to conclude the year. To start this week, we’d like to remind all 8th grade students of morning MCAS testing this Tuesday-Friday. Thanks to all our families and students for your ongoing participation in MCAS, it is sincerely appreciated.
If you drive by the MS/HS complex on Thursday, May 1st, you may notice we will hold our annual 'Gansett Arrives Alive Program (GAAP Day) in the complex front parking lot. The event brings together community organizations to support positive decision making among our high school students during graduation season. We are pleased to share that we bring a number of organizations and agencies to NRSD including state, local, and county law enforcement and emergency personnel/first-responders, as well as non-profits providing guidance to students on topics including healthy relationships, the dangers of substance abuse, and laws pertinent to celebrations during graduation season.
Students will learn about careers in related areas of community service while observing demonstrations and participating in simulations on everything from emergency response, to traffic stops, as well as the dangers of driving under the influence. If you drive by the school and see an usually large number of personnel on campus, please do not be alarmed, the presence is all in support of our students. Pick-up and drop-off patterns will not change during GAAP day, but we thank everyone in advance for your patience should traffic move more slowly on and around Baldwinville Road on Thursday.
We see our young people as our most precious resource, and we thank our many community partners for their help in safeguarding our students and families. With prom coming up on May 3rd and graduation on May 30th, our goal is to support a productive, festive, and safe graduation season for all.
Students don’t forget, in celebration of student elections, GAAP day, College Decision-Day; we have a welcome back student spirit week this week!
