Big News! Big Changes!

With the unfortunate closing of the East Templeton School this summer came BIG changes to the ET/TC PTO. We have lost all former officers of the PTO due to the fact that their children do not attend school at the Templeton Center School.

We are grateful to these officers who supported us in this transition by attending the September and October meetings of our parent/teacher group. Now they are moving on, we have reorganized ourselves as the “Friends of Templeton Center School.”

Our group is made up of concerned parents, teachers and community members who are interested and invested in the success of the success of the children at the Templeton Center School. We are a small, but determined group who share a vision for how great our school could be.

Under the new by-laws for the Friends of Templeton Center School, we have less restrictions and are working as a team of folks who come together to make decisions together (without a board) for the good of the children of our school.

Would YOU Join Us?

The Friends of Templeton Center are looking for more members. All parents, teachers, staff, and interested community members are invited to attend our monthly meetings.

                              Next Meeting November 16th 4:30p.m.Eek

We need your help and support. At this time we are really too small to continue to be able to do BIG things. We do think that our children deserve the best! So won’t you commit to come to one meeting to see how we havechanged, lend your help, talents and expertise to a very worthy cause?

If that ‘s not enough---remember--- there will be free donuts and coffee at the meeting!

New Business
*To see if the TC/ET PTO would reorganize to become the
Friends of Templeton Center School.

To seat stakeholders who would lead, but also follow, so all members of the group are equally contributing to the good of our school.

To decide that meetings should alternate monthly between afternoon and evening, so as to encourage as many parents as possible to attend and contribute.

To begin our fund-raising efforts with a school wide Jeanine sales drive which began on October 12.

To continue the very successful long-standing box-tops collection program. To run a box-tops contest in which each classroom of children will compete to collect the most box tops by November 12. The classroom with the highest total box-tops will receive a class prize. To revise the old PTO by-laws so as to reflect our new dedication to teamwork, group decision-making, and the Friends of Templeton new philosophy.

Next Month:

We’ll be setting up a timeline of events for our school. What do we hope to accomplish this year? Should we do all the same functions and activities as in previous years? What can be cut out? What can we add?

We’ll be preparing to go to the school committee to present our time-line of events for their approval.

We’ll be setting up committees of dedicated parents and teachers who want to see these events become a reality.

We’ll be meeting new friends and team members who can make this a great year for the children of Templeton Center School:

REMEMBER !!We need you! Even if you never attended a PTO meeting before, you have a lot to offer your child and the other children of TC. They deserve it! They are our greatest gift!
