Physical Education Curriculum

All grades are taught a variety of team activities in which strategies are needed.  These activities included but are not limited to:

  • Capture the Flag
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • Speedball
  • Team Handball

We also teach the skills needed for individual activities as are follow:

  • Bowling
  • Dance Dance Revolution (Nintendo Wii game)
  • Juggling
  • Mile run

In the all grades we teach skills needed as well as rules for the following sports:

  • Soccer
  • Softball
  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Football
  • Field Hockey

In the 5th and 6th grade we focus more on the skill and technique of each individual for these sports.  While in the 7th and 8th grade we focus more on the team building/strategies of each game.

Being Prepared

Students must come prepared to P.E. class to be able to participate.

5th and 6th graders:  should wear loose comfortable clothing that can get mildly dirty.  We do play indoors and outside and sometimes it is necessary to sit/lay on the ground (example: stretches/exercising.)  Also students should wear some sort of athletic shoe that is tied properly.  It is important to have well fitting shoes to decrease the chance of ankle injuries.

All dress code policies apply, and you can refer to the Student Handbook if needed.  Because of the nature of Physical Education class no skirts/dresses, sandals, crocs, work boots, or dress shoes should be worn to class.

5th and 6th graders are not required to change for P.E. class. However if one chooses to change they will be permitted time to do so.

7th and 8th graders:  must change out of clothes they wore in P.E. at the end of their class period in order to get full credit for the class.  Loose, comfortable clothing that can get mildly dirty should be worn during class.  Also students should wear some sort of athletic shoe that is tied properly.

Personal Hygiene

Personal Hygiene can help prevent skin issues, sickness and help with self-esteem.  Washing clothing, showering/bathing regularly, and the use of deodorants can help maintain good hygiene.
