Grades 5
The goal of the keyboarding curriculum is for the students to learn the proper keyboarding techniques and correct key stroking. The Home row keys are stressed greatly at the beginning level. Microsoft Word skills are also introduced at this level. Students will be able to demonstrate basic word processing formatting skills.
Grade 6
Students will improve speed and accuracy keyboarding abilities. Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations are also introduced at this level. Students will demonstrate intermediate word processing skills.
Grades 7 and 8
Students will continue to improve speed and accuracy keyboarding abilities. Students will be able to demonstrate advanced Microsoft Office abilities. Students will be able to identify parts, types and uses of business letters and personal notes. Students will be able to demonstrate basic Microsoft Excel abilities as well as Microsoft Publisher.
